Sheila Dwyer Schwartz
Founder and principal Sheila Dwyer Schwartz, CFRE, brings a wealth of experience to nonprofits seeking to enhance their fundraising and capital development strategies. With a rich history of service in a multi-billion dollar healthcare organization, and as the leader of an international microfinance organization's development team, Sheila launched Dwyer Philanthropy. Her mission: to empower organizations to achieve their goals and amplify their impact.
EXPERIENCE: As Chief Philanthropic Officer for Opportunity International,
Sheila oversaw 25 fundraising professionals and led her team to raise annual contributions of $24 million dollars, marking a 25% increase year-over-year.
At ProMedica, where she began her career in 2008, she transformed individual development offices into a system-wide philanthropic program across fourteen hospitals. Sheila also spearheaded the development of a Women’s Philanthropy Council, a Physician Philanthropy Council, and corporate and planned giving programs. Through her leadership, she established a fully integrated fundraising model, completed 14 project campaigns, and significantly increased donor involvement. By heading a team of nearly 30 fundraising professionals and support staff, Sheila has been instrumental in building a world-class fundraising platform.
AWARDS & RECOGNITION: Sheila was an Athena Award Recipient in 2005. Most recently, Sheila was awarded the YWCA Milestones Award for outstanding accomplishments and contributions in Northwest Ohio in the area of Business in 2017.
EDUCATION: A Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 1996, Sheila’s education also includes a B.A. of Human Services from Siena Heights University and a Master of Arts (ABT) in Guidance and Counseling from Siena Heights University. Sheila has served and led numerous nonprofit boards.
PERSONAL: Sheila is dedicated to working alongside non-profit leaders to maximize philanthropy through partnerships with donors, foundations, and corporations. She values a holistic approach to a balanced life, considering travel, exercise, and spending time with friends and family as top priorities.
